Born on December 5, 1983, in Rochester, New York, Holly was the beloved daughter of Chris Haefner, Diane Relyea, and the late Jan Haefner. She grew up just outside Rochester and graduated from Pittsford Mendon High School in 2002. She later attended George Mason University, earning her degree in 2007, and chose to settle in Virginia, where she built a life filled with love and laughter.
Holly was celebrated for her infectious laughter, vibrant energy, and resilient spirit. She cherished the simple joys of life—long walks, working out, sharing laughter with friends, and cheering passionately for her sons during football games. Her greatest happiness came from cooking delicious treats for her family and friends, creating moments of warmth and connection. Despite facing years of medical challenges, Holly demonstrated remarkable courage and determination, inspiring everyone around her with her unwavering positivity.
Her passions included fashion and travel, with trips to the Outer Banks holding special memories. Holly’s love for beauty, creativity, and her loved ones left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Holly is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Zungali; her sons, Jackson Thorne and Logan Zungali; her parents, Chris Haefner and Diane Relyea; siblings Melissa Emerson, Kit Haefner, Jake Purcell, and Cody Haefner; and numerous extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held in Northern Virginia in early winter to honor her life and legacy. Holly’s spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
