Resident Of Brighton Richard Rayner Dies At 58|East Brighton Football Club Member
It is with profound sadness and shock that we mourn the sudden and unexpected passing of our cherished member, Richard Rayner, on Saturday night. At just 58 years old, Richard was a vibrant and generous soul, whose presence illuminated our community.
We extend our deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Di, and their daughters, Ashleigh, Charlotte, and Paige, during this unimaginably difficult time.
We are grateful to Richard’s best mate, Paul Taberner, for introducing him to the club last season. Richard quickly became an integral part of our fabric. He discovered a true love for the game on Tuesday nights alongside his good friends Roy and Ryan. Under the capable guidance of skipper Bill Fiddler, their formidable team, affectionately dubbed the “3 R’s,” became a fixture.

Showing his growing passion, Richard joined the Saturday pennant team this year. In a cruel twist of fate, he played a fantastic game this past Saturday, celebrating a great win with a beer amongst teammates. That was our last, cherished moment with him.
Richard was the very definition of a great clubman. Incredibly generous, his presence on the greens and in the clubrooms will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
