Barrett Jason “B.J.”Dail, A Former Southern Illinois Miners Pitcher Dies At 38
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former Miners pitcher Barrett Jason “B.J.” Dail.
B.J. was a valued member of our 2011 Southern Illinois Miners team and will always be remembered for his talent, work ethic, and the positive spirit he brought to our clubhouse every single day. On the mound, he was a competitor, but it was his character and unwavering kindness that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. B.J. was more than a teammate; he was a friend whose warm personality created a bond that extended far beyond the baseball diamond.

His life, spanning from September 30, 1987, to November 28, 2025, was far too short, but the memories he created will be cherished forever.
We extend our deepest condolences to B.J.’s family, friends, and former teammates during this difficult time. His legacy as number 40 and as a beloved member of the Miners family will never be forgotten.
